Local Windsurfer and Stand-Up Paddle Boarder Competes in Paddle Round the Pier and Becomes an Ambassador for Extreme Tea   Devon local John Hibbard, professional windsurfer and stand-up paddle boarder, competed in Brighton’s Paddle Round the Pier competition last weekend. The competition also came as John is announced as an ambassador for the Lifeboat Tea Extreme Tea celebration of the ordinary people that do extraordinary things for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).   After finishing as runner-up in last year’s 20-mille competition (which also raises funds for the RNLI) John finished seventh.  Last years turnout had about 20 boarders compared to this year's much bigger turnout of 40 competitiors. As a supporter of the RNLI he is embracing the Extreme Tea initiative by Lifeboat Tea – the tea brand that raises vital funds for the charity, which is entirely funded through donations.   Thirty-three year old John  took his stand-up paddle board at the Brighton Paddle Round The Pier competition last weekend (4th July), which is in aid of the RNLI.  After coming 2nd last year, he was keen to bring glory back to Devon this year.   John says of his involvement with Lifeboat Tea: “I spend almost as much time in the sea as I do on dry land so knowing that if everything went drastically wrong there are people ready to risk everything to help me is amazing. The Lifeboat Tea campaign is a great way to celebrate the lengths that the RNLI go to everyday in saving others.”   John continues: “Very few people realise just how dangerous the sea around the UK can be. I’m lucky nothing has ever happened to me but it’s good to know they’re there if needs be. Bookmark this item
