Dartmoor photoA stunning new exhibition by professional landscape photographer Adam Burton is on display at Dartmoor National Park Authority’s High Moorland Visitor Centre in Princetown.

Over several years Adam has developed a large portfolio of images from regular visits to many of the UK's fifteen National Parks, capturing images of these special landscapes under a wide variety of weather conditions.  The first part of this exhibition contains some of his finest photographs from around many of the UK's National Parks.

The second part of the exhibition concentrates on Dartmoor.  Dartmoor has long been a lure for photographers and artists alike, and for good reason; it offers a spectacular and unique landscape. The windswept moorland, granite tors, stunning river valleys and unpredictable weather offer a wealth of photographic interest quite unmatched.  Over the past four years Adam has photographed Dartmoor's wild landscape throughout the seasons, and includes many of his favourite images in this collection.

Adam Burton said: ‘As a professional landscape photographer Dartmoor National Park provides the perfect workplace. Not only is the scenery on offer very special but in addition access is plentiful. This allows me to roam this wonderful open landscape which is a tremendous aid to my creativity.’

The exhibition is part of the celebrations of Dartmoor’s 60th anniversary as a National Park. Dartmoor’s designation as a National Park was confirmed on 30 October 1951. It was the fourth area of land in the UK to receive National Park status.

The exhibition runs from 28 October 2011 - 4 March 2012.

The High Moorland Visitor Centre is an ideal place to start your visit to Dartmoor. You will find extensive, interpretative displays that provide wonderful insights to Dartmoor, its history, culture and wildlife, as well as a gallery with regularly changing exhibitions and a small auditorium where visitors are able to watch various short films about Dartmoor.
