Mountain Boarding

Mountain boarding, also known as dirtboarding, or all-terrain-boarding, is a relatively new board sport, derived from snowboarding. It was originally intended to take the place of snowboarding during warm months while there was no snow available. It was only in the last 8 or 9 years that mountain boarding has developed into a sport in its own right.
A close relative of the skateboard, the mountain board is not confined to the road, pavement or multi-storey carparks. Its oversized board and beefy rubber tyres allows more flexibility in terms of terrain choice.
Freestyle mountain boarding involves jumping, flipping and grabbing, whilst downhill mountain boarding essentially 'does what it says on the tin' and consists of downhill races and slaloms.
Mountain boarding in Devon takes advantage of the county's abundantly hilly off-road terrain, and often the freeriding and racing boarders share the downhills and dirt tracks with mountain bikers and other dirty downward thinking outdoor adventurers.
